CracklessEgg recently joined poultry professionals from across the United States at the 61st National Meeting on Poultry Health, Processing, and Live Production in Ocean City, Maryland.
The event brought together professionals from across the poultry industry to exchange knowledge, explore new technologies, and discuss challenges affecting poultry health, live production, processing, and performance.
As a Breakfast Sponsor, CracklessEgg was proud to be part of the event and to connect with producers and industry professionals about a challenge that can be difficult to see, but costly when left unchecked: where and why eggs experience damaging impacts throughout production and handling.
Where does egg damage really happen?
A cracked or damaged egg may be easy to identify. Finding where the damage actually occurred can be much more difficult.
Eggs travel through multiple stages and pieces of equipment before reaching their destination. Transfers, conveyors, collection systems, packing equipment and other handling points can expose eggs to impacts that aren't always visible during normal operation.
That's where data can make a difference.
Measuring what the egg experiences
CracklessEgg travels through egg-handling equipment like a real egg, collecting data from the same journey an actual egg experiences.
The wireless sensor measures impact, temperature and humidity, giving poultry teams objective information about conditions throughout the process.
With CracklessEgg, teams can:
- Identify locations where potentially damaging impacts occur.
- Compare impact levels at different points in the process.
- Evaluate equipment adjustments using real data.
- Monitor temperature and humidity conditions.
- Investigate potential root causes of egg damage.
- Support decisions aimed at reducing cracks and improving egg handling.
Instead of relying only on visual inspection or trial and error, producers can see what the egg is actually experiencing.
From the hen to the hatchery
At Delmarva, our team demonstrated CracklessEgg and spoke with poultry professionals about the challenges they encounter in their own operations.
Those conversations reinforced an important point:
Reducing egg damage isn't only about finding cracked eggs at the end of the process. It's about understanding where the damage begins.
That is why CracklessEgg looks at the egg's journey from the hen to the hatchery, helping teams turn invisible impacts into measurable information they can act on.
Thank you, Delmarva
We would like to thank the Delmarva Chicken Association, everyone involved in the 61st National Meeting, and everyone who took the time to visit us and learn more about CracklessEgg.
The event may be over, but the conversations are continuing.
